Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about buying, selling, and working with UPP
Who can register on the site?
Access to the platform is exclusively reserved for companies (B2B). Registration is mandatory to view prices, use the cart, and propose assets for sale.
What data and documents are required?
You must provide the company name, VAT number, registered office, and your role within the company. To ensure the reliability of our network, it is mandatory to upload an official document (e.g., Chamber of Commerce Visura or Certificate of Incorporation) proving the actual registration and active status of the company in its country.
Is UsedPowerPlant.eu a secure site?
Yes. UPP is a company incorporated under Irish law, strictly subject to the legislation of the Republic of Ireland and to the rigorous European data protection regulations (GDPR). The security of our B2B ecosystem is guaranteed by a constant verification process: we allow access to sensitive information (such as prices and technical dossiers) exclusively to regularly registered and validated companies.
Is registration on the site free?
Absolutely yes. Both the registration phase of your company on the platform and the use of the dashboard to insert machinery and assets to be offered for sale to our network are completely free procedures.
How can I propose my machinery?
Registered companies can submit sales proposals for generators, engines, turbines, and spare parts directly from their multifunctional dashboard.
How long does the evaluation take?
Our team typically requires 7 to 14 working days to complete the preliminary analysis of the proposal.
Why might the timeframe be extended?
The timeframe may vary if the provided documentation is incomplete or if the asset requires an on-site technical inspection to assess its actual operational status.
I am a private individual, can I sell my assets?
Private individuals cannot use the automated sales dashboard. If a private individual possesses industrial assets of significant relevance, they must contact UPP exclusively and directly via WhatsApp or email.
Why don't I see the price directly in the listing?
As these are high-value industrial assets, the price varies based on recent overhauls, availability, and logistics. By clicking on "Unlock your special price", you will immediately access a private chat within your profile where you will receive a personalized B2B quote and can converse directly with our experts.
How long do I have to wait for the quote?
The chat is active from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (Dublin time), Monday to Friday. Response times generally range from a few seconds to a 1-hour wait (except during high traffic periods).
Are the prices proposed in the chat negotiable?
Yes, negotiation is part of our B2B model. Prices are negotiable within the private chat, unless otherwise and specifically stated.
Where is the machinery located?
The proposed assets are located in various specialized depots and warehouses across Europe.
How does the visual inspection work? Can I send my own technician?
Yes, physical inspections are encouraged. Once the preliminary price is agreed upon in the chat, we will schedule an official appointment at the depot where the asset is located to allow you or your trusted technician to view it.
Can I get the test report before buying?
Absolutely yes. All available technical dossiers, operational videos, and maintenance reports are shared confidentially directly within your private chat after registration.
Does UPP handle dismantling and loading?
Although the standard sale is FCA (loaded on the buyer's transport), the UPP team can provide tailored, additional quotes for dismantling, special loading, and customs assistance for export.
What happens if I pay a deposit to reserve the power plant, but after the visit I decide not to buy it?
In the event of a written agreement post-acceptance of the preliminary quote and payment of the deposit, the refusal to purchase without losing the deposit is possible exclusively for objective technical reasons, which must be previously and explicitly specified in the signed agreement.
What is the "Wanted" section?
If you cannot find a component in the catalog, you can submit a free, non-binding request. We will activate our sourcing network and you will receive a notification as soon as the item becomes available.
What are the payment methods?
Conditions depend on the product type:
- Spare Parts: Full balance is required upon ordering.
- Large Assets (Generators, Turbines, etc.): Payment is made via Bank Transfer (SEPA or SWIFT circuit) according to the deadlines and contractual terms agreed upon during the negotiation phase.
What happens in case of non-payment?
Order confirmation is a binding commitment. In the event of 3 missed payments (without at least 24 hours' notice or justification), the account will be permanently suspended, and UPP reserves the legal right to retain any deposits paid and ban the user.
How is cross-border VAT handled?
As UPP is an Irish-registered company, for B2B customers within the European Union (with a valid VIES VAT number), the Reverse Charge mechanism applies (0% VAT). For non-EU customers, VAT is not charged, but the goods must clear customs. If the purchasing company is registered in Ireland, the local Irish VAT rate applies.
Is free shipping available for spare parts?
Shipping is free only if these three requirements are met simultaneously: a minimum order of €1,000, destination within Europe, and a total weight of less than 10 kg.
What are the packaging and dispatch times?
Standard shipping takes approximately 10/15 days once in transit. However, the goods are typically prepared and handed over to the courier within 3–5 working days from the receipt of full payment.
Are packaging costs included?
Standard basic packaging is included. However, for heavy mechanical spare parts requiring special packaging for export (e.g., ISPM-15 fumigated wooden crates), the costs are not included and will be quoted separately.
Who is responsible for customs and duties?
For all shipments, including FCA/EXW or international deliveries (EU/Non-EU), any import taxes, customs duties, or clearance costs in the destination country are exclusively the responsibility and risk of the buyer.
How does collection work in other cases?
Collection and transport are the buyer's responsibility. The sale normally takes place on an FCA or Ex-Works (EXW) basis, depending on the specific agreements made and the exact location of the goods.
What are the general terms and conditions of sale?
Every transaction constitutes a B2B contract strictly governed by the laws of the Republic of Ireland. The minimum accepted order is €300 (excluding VAT).
What is the general warranty policy?
All products, unless otherwise agreed in writing, are sold strictly in the factual and legal condition in which they are found ("As Is"). Operating exclusively in a B2B environment, the parties expressly exclude the applicability of sections 13, 14, and 15 of the Irish Sale of Goods Act 1980. We strongly encourage customers to request all information, photos, and technical reports via the private chat before confirming the purchase.
What is the return policy for electronic items?
UPP offers no warranty and accepts no returns for electronic items, control units, boards, sensors, or electrical components. Due to the sensitivity of such components and the risk of damage resulting from incorrect installation or testing by the buyer, the sale is considered final and non-refundable from the moment the goods are handed over to the carrier (FCA/EXW).
What is the return policy for mechanical components?
For mechanical spare parts only, UPP accepts return requests exclusively if the buyer demonstrates a clear and objective discrepancy of the received component compared to the photographic and technical documentation provided in the chat prior to purchase. The procedure is strictly governed as follows:
- Notification (Strict Deadline): The buyer must formally notify UPP of the discrepancy no later than 48 hours after receiving the goods, providing detailed photographic evidence of the component and the original packaging. Late claims will not be considered.
- Shipping and Return Costs: The organization and costs of the return shipment are entirely the responsibility and risk of the buyer. UPP will not accept freight collect shipments.
- Potential Reimbursement of Transport Costs: The buyer may request reimbursement for the return shipping costs only upon prior written approval by UPP of the transport quote before the shipment takes place. UPP reserves the unquestionable right to refuse reimbursements for transport costs deemed disproportionate or not previously authorized.
- Inspection and Refund of the Goods: Once the mechanical component has returned to our warehouse, UPP technicians will proceed with an inspection to verify: (a) the actual reported discrepancy and (b) that the part has not been tampered with, installed, or damaged by the buyer. Only in the event of a successful inspection will UPP proceed to refund the value of the goods within a minimum of 7 working days from the date the technical assessment is completed.
